New Horizons in Interdisciplinary Dentistry

Join Dr. Tito Norris for an in-depth exploration of modern interdisciplinary treatment planning and execution. This comprehensive program examines how orthodontics, restorative dentistry, facial esthetics, and airway considerations intersect to create more predictable, efficient, and patient-centered outcomes.

Dr. Norris will discuss emerging concepts including Airway-Focused Orthodontics, treatment strategies for gummy smiles, and the integration of Pre-Orthodontic Provisionalization (POP) and Dynamic Orthodontic Provisionalization (DOP) into restorative workflows. The course also covers Global Diagnosis, facially-driven treatment planning, skeletal anchorage systems, and the use of contemporary expansion techniques such as MARPE and MSE.

Participants will gain practical insight into the use of direct and indirect Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs), Skeletal Anchorage Systems (SAS), and 3D Trans-Palatal Arches (TPAs) to enhance clinical efficiency and outcomes.

This program is designed for clinicians seeking to elevate diagnostic accuracy, improve interdisciplinary collaboration, and expand their treatment capabilities using modern orthodontic and restorative techniques.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Understand the six key questions that guide the Global Diagnostic process.
2. Identify the six diagnostic factors involved in evaluating and treating a gummy smile.
3. Recognize the efficiency and clinical applications of Pre-Orthodontic Provisionalization (POP).
4. Determine appropriate indications for Dynamic Orthodontic Provisionalization (DOP).
5. Understand the indications and age considerations for Maxillary Skeletal Expander (MSE) and Micro-Implant Assisted Rapid Palatal Expander (MARPE) appliances.

Dr. Robert (Tito) Norris received his bachelor's degree with honors from the University of Texas at Austin in Biology with a minor in Mechanical Engineering. His unique background in engineering provides him with a distinct advantage in mastering the forces, vectors and movements inherent in performing orthodontic treatment. His background in material science allows him to stay on the leading edge of the latest technological advances in orthodontic techniques and products.

Dr. Norris was the salutatorian of his dental school class at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School. He completed a General Practice Residency at the V.A. Hospital in Washington, D.C., followed by a residency in Orthodontics at Howard University. He graduated from this residency program as the valedictorian with the highest-grade point average in the Orthodontic Department's 25-year history.

After completing his orthodontic specialty training, Dr. Norris joined the United States Air Force and served as Chief of Orthodontics at Misawa Air Base, Japan for three years. He and his wife, Simone, returned to San Antonio in 1998 where the vision of Stone Oak Orthodontics came to be.

Dr. Norris is a resident of San Antonio, Texas. He enjoys snow skiing, cycling, swimming, strength training, boating, and hiking. Dr. Norris has lectured throughout the United States, Europe, South America, and Asia. His scientific papers have been published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Seminars in Orthodontics, Clinical Impressions, Orthodontic Products, and OrthoTown. He is the creator of the Norris 20/26 Bracket system.
