June Chapter Meeting on Monarch Migration in Mexico
Earlier this year, the couple traveled to central Mexico to visit the monarch butterfly overwintering sanctuaries at El Rosario Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary, Sierra Chincua
Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary, and Piedra Herrada Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary. Their presentation will share photographs, stories, and personal reflections from standing among millions of monarch butterflies in the oyamel fir forests high in the mountains of Mexico.
The program will also connect the monarch’s incredible journey to Texas and the native plant, pollinator, and habitat work being done here. From milkweed gardens to public education projects, attendees will be reminded how local conservation efforts play an important role in supporting one of the world’s most remarkable migrations.
Join us for an inspiring look at the “other end” of the monarch story — and a reminder that even small conservation efforts at home can have an impact far beyond Texas.
The event is also available online. Visit our webpage at www.txmn.org/heartwood for the Zoom link.
