📣 Parangal is proud to present our upcoming production, "Palin-awa: Healing Ritual of Kalinga", in collaboration with Jenny Bawer Young, Kalinga Culture Bearer. Kalinga Palin-awa is a ritual that recalls one’s spirit back to the community, creating a spiritual balance when a person or community has experienced extreme joy or sadness. 📣🗓️ Saturday, June 20, 2026 | 3 PM

"Palin-awa" will be the first stage production inspired by the ritual to premiere in the U.S., here in the San Francisco Bay Area! In collaboration with the Bawer family in Lubuagan, Kalinga, and performed alongside Jenny Bawer Young, Kalinga Culture Bearer.
All Guests Will Experience:
- Kalinga Food Tasting: A curated tasting of traditional Kalinga flavors, served as small plates to share
- Kalinga Attire Showcase: An attire presentation featuring both traditional garments and newer designs, highlighting the evolution of Kalinga identity
- Palin-awa Live Performance: A first-of-its-kind stage production, inspired by the Palin-awa ritual and brought to life through music, movement, and storytelling

About Parangal:
Parangal (pronounced puh-ruh-ngal) means tribute in Tagalog. Parangal’s mission is to give tribute to Philippine heritage by preserving and promoting ethnic attire, music, and dance through research, workshops, and performances. They aim to serve as a bridge, inspiring and connecting Filipino Americans to their roots to give them a sense of pride and identity, while educating diverse communities to foster awareness and appreciation of Philippine culture. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Parangal Dance Company was founded in 2008 under the direction of Eric Espartinez Solano.
