Our speaker this month is Karen Christian...here's more about her:
Karen was born in San Mateo, California, into a deeply musical family. Her father was a pianist and church organist, while her mother sang with the San Francisco Opera choir and as a church soloist. Surrounded by music, dance, and the arts from an early age, Karen also sang and trained in folk dance, ballet, tap, and acrobatics. Having Classical music playing in their home laid the foundation for her lifelong calling to worship the Lord through dance.
After giving her life to Christ, Karen began flowing in the gifts of the Spirit. Soon after, she joined five other young women to form The Sacred Dance Group of Boulder. Through their dedication to prayer, worship, choreography, and ministry, the group traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, England, Europe, Poland, Hungary, and Israel, presenting workshops and sacred dance performances.
Karen later moved to France, where she danced for eight years with Catherine and Georges Golovine’s Sacred Dance Group in Avignon, ministering in churches, chapels, and cathedrals. She eventually relocated to Denmark before the Lord called her back home to Colorado Springs, where she now serves as Treasurer on the board of Women’s Aglow and continues to dance in worship.
A lifelong artist, Karen is also a seamstress, poet, former model, and painter who has designed countless dance costumes and created many artistic works inspired by movement and beauty.
