About this Event

Jumma Jaam presents: Midnight Crossing

Beyond the Borders.
Feel the music.

Join us for an unforgettable night celebrating the music, poetry and shared cultures that have united us for generations across South Asia.

Marking 79 years since Partition, Midnight Crossing brings together exceptional artists from the UK, Pakistan, India and Bangladesh for an electrifying evening of classical Qawwali, Sufi music, Folk, Contemporary sounds and dancefloor bangers with unique DJ mixes.

Featuring Shujat Ali Khan, Arieb Azhar, DJ Swami, Sia Sharma and Bilawal Ilyas, the night builds towards a unique live collaboration as midnight marks the crossing from Pakistan Independence Day into India’s Independence Day.

Expect soaring vocals, hypnotic rhythms, live dhol, dance floor energy and an atmosphere of unity, unlike anything you’ve experienced before.

Whether you’re a lifelong lover of South Asian music or discovering it for the first time, Midnight Crossing is an invitation to come together through the power of live performance.

Honour the past. Celebrate the present. Dance into the future.

Bring your friends and be part of a night where borders fade, music takes over and unforgettable memories are made.

Arieb Azhar gives sharp eloquence, humanist politics, and mystic poetries are given a global voice. This singer-songwriter from Islamabad, Pakistan leads a quartet of musicians in an eclectic mix of urban and folk-based songs grounded in Sufi and other humanist poetries from across Eurasia. Azhar pays tribute to Irish balladeers, Croatian gypsies, Punjabi traders and ancient Sanskrit texts. Rather than preserving ‘pure’ art forms, Azhar tries to express the human soul the best he can, while making use of all influences he has absorbed along the way.
