About this Event

SF Camerawork's monthly critiques offer members the opportunity to share and receive feedback on their current projects. July's Members' Critique will be led by Bay Area based artist John Chiara.

Presenter slots are on a first come first served basis with members only able to present once per quarter/season each year (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter).

Email [email protected] to present; space is limited to 5 presenters per session.

5 photographers have 15 minutes at each critique to present their work and receive feedback from the critique leader and the group. In addition to the five photographers presenting work, there are also typically up to 25 other members who tune in to observe, comment, and ask questions. Critiques are intended to be as collaborative as possible, and we encourage all participants to engage in the conversation!

This event is reserved for current SF Camerawork members. Unsure of your registration status? Email [email protected].

More about our moderator: John Chiara is a San Francisco-based photographer whose work has been exhibited and acquired by major institutions, including the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles and the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. SF Camerawork is currently presenting John Chiara: Bay Panel, a solo exhibition exploring the changing landscapes of the San Francisco Bay. His work captures the region through the use of self-designed, large-scale camera obscuras that expose images directly onto positive color photographic paper. These handmade cameras produce one-of-a-kind photographs that embrace the materiality and unpredictability of the photographic process. Chiara credits SF Camerawork with shaping his early education in contemporary photography, particularly through its lecture program.
