Join for us for the second of five unique instances of the "Introduction to Humanities: Book Club Dinner Party" class!
Each of these dinner party gatherings will feature a selection of beverages, a salad, and an entree prepared by Lacey, as well as a brief presentation about the history and cultural context of the meal. Students may opt in to contributing a side dish or dessert if they would like, but this is not required. Each gathering will feature discussion dedicated to an assigned book or artifact. Cumulatively, this series is an exploration of the humanities, the field of study that blends inquiry into history and literature, as well as the humanist philosophical tradition. Students will consider the merits and drawbacks of humanist values and ideals while studying the humanities.
While this class functions as a cohesive series, it is also accessible as individual classes.
This month's "artifact" will be "Your Brain on Art: How the Arts Transform Us by Ivy Ross, Susan Magsamen and the meal will be Brazilian feijoada (pork & beef; can be made gluten free.)
Instructor: Lacey Squier
