July Book Club & Thriller Games Picnic: Dear Debbie
About this Event
📬 Dear Debbie: A Thriller Picnic in the Park
Join Chicago Lit Society for a suspense-filled afternoon in the park as we discuss Dear Debbie by Freida McFadden. Bring a blanket, a snack, and your best detective instincts - we're taking book club outdoors for an afternoon of twists, secrets, and suspicious behavior.
Whether you solved the mystery early or changed your theory every three chapters, we'll unpack the book's biggest moments while enjoying a laid-back picnic with fellow readers.
Here's what's in your case file:
📖 Book Discussion
We'll dive into the twists, characters, shocking revelations, and all the moments that made you question who could actually be trusted.
📬 Dear Debbie: Anonymous Advice Column
Submit an anonymous dilemma and let the group respond as Dear Debbie. Expect a mix of genuine advice, questionable advice, and advice that would absolutely make the situation worse.
🚩 Red Flag or Reasonable?
Was that behavior suspicious... or completely justified? We'll debate the characters' actions and discover that our definitions of "normal" vary wildly.
🌳 Picnic Vibes
Find a spot on the grass, enjoy the summer weather, and connect with fellow book lovers. Feel free to bring your own snacks, drinks, blanket, or picnic setup.
💛 THE EXPERIENCE
This event is designed to feel fun, social, and welcoming - not academic or intimidating. Whether you're a longtime thriller reader or picking up your first Freida McFadden novel, you'll find a relaxed group of book lovers who are here to connect, laugh, and talk about the story.
Expect a laid-back picnic atmosphere where it's easy to meet new people, swap theories, and debate which characters were walking red flags from the very beginning. We'll spend the afternoon discussing twists, sharing anonymous advice, and creating the most outrageously dramatic thriller plot we can imagine together.
Feel free to pack your favorite snacks and drinks to enjoy throughout the afternoon while we soak up the summer weather and talk books.
