Topic: Exploring Avant-Garde
Avant-Garde is a French term that means "advance guard" or "vanguard." In an army, the vanguard is the group that goes ahead, exploring new territory and breaking new ground before the rest of the army follows. In the world of art, Avant-Garde refers to artists who are like those vanguard soldiers; the ones who break away from traditional ways of making art and doing things the way they’ve always been done. Instead, they are bold and experimental, pushing boundaries, trying out new ideas, and sometimes even shocking people with their creations!
In this workshop, participants will explore the principles of Avant-Garde art movement and create individual art projects reflecting avant-garde concepts in a collaborative environment using a variety of materials, led by Cincinnati-based artist Michael Coppage. Let’s forget about the rules and let our creativity run wild!
