About this Event
DC EcoWomen's Mentor Dinner series connects environmental leaders with our members, and provides an opportunity to glean insights on different career paths in the environmental field. These exclusive events are limited to 6 spots to ensure the most in-depth, engaging conversations with the featured guest.
This month's guest is Sybil Bullock, a Senior Oceans Campaigner at Greenpeace USA. Through a diverse array of roles and through her association with different institutions, Sybil has consistently focused on environmental education, advocacy and activism over the course of her education and career, with a view towards the global as well as the local environmental spheres.
The Mentor Dinner will be taking place at Firefly restaurant in Dupont Circle, a restaurant that prioritizes sustainability by sourcing seasonal ingredients from local farmers and purveyors, and using recycled and compostable takeout packaging. Please note that tickets are $5 each, and participants are also asked to pay for their own meals. Please only RSVP if you are certain of your interest and availability to attend.

Sybil is a Senior Oceans Campaigner at Greenpeace USA, where she is supporting efforts to ensure an ambitious and legally-binding UN Global Plastics Treaty, as well as broader ocean conservation work. She spent five years on the global coordination team of the #BreakFreeFromPlastic movement, coordinating key projects and tactics to advance BFFP’s objectives and strategies related to corporate accountability. At BFFP she managed the movement’s global brand audit initiative, mobilizing supporters around the world through community-based science to identify the corporations most responsible for plastic pollution and hold them accountable. Previously, she was a digital organizer at Greenpeace USA working to educate, empower and engage supporters to take action against single-use plastics and ocean pollution.
Before diving deeper into environmental advocacy, Sybil spent years as a cross-cultural educator, language teacher, journalist, community organizer and event planner. She holds a graduate certificate in Arabic from the American University in Cairo, a BA in Anthropology from Connecticut College, and an MS in Anthropology and Development Studies from Radboud University, where she conducted original field research on environmental civil society in Tunisia. She speaks fluent French and is a lifelong student of Portuguese and Arabic.
