Samen met Bill Frisell wordt Julian Lage beschouwd als een grootheid van de hedendaagse jazzgitaar. Met ‘Speak to Me’ (2024), zijn vierde album voor het legendarische Blue Note Records, zette hij de stap naar het grote publiek. Geen pure jazz dit keer, maar flarden soul, vroege blues, folk uit de Appalachen, knipogen naar Thelonious Monk en zelfs Chuck Berry. Het mag duidelijk zijn: vanavond verandert de oudste Concertzaal ter wereld in het Gitaarwalhalla.
