About this Event
JULIA.
A group of cosmic Funk rockers birthed out of Chapel Hill and based out of Raleigh, NC, JULIA. are known for their signature style and lively performances. While influenced by classic funk, rock, and hip hop, the band exudes originality, showing the world fresh flavors, while paying homage to the legends. Recent additions of keyboardist Chuck Rhew and guitarist Elijah Melanson have taken their sound to new heights, and expanded their sonic exploration into new territories. JULIA. made waves as soon as they touched the NC music scene, and have established themselves as a must-see act.
jAndr
Sometimes we all want to be somewhere else. Life is a journey, and when you’re unsure of the destination, you simply say “I’m going over yonder”. This is the philosophy that guides the music of jAndr, a family of musicians and artists from central and Eastern North Carolina. jAndr_music is the brainchild of bassist Matt Grady and keyboardist Santel Reid. A sonic brand created to connect some of the finest musical humans with one another and with projects that will move everyone forward in their journey.
Grady and Reid formed the band in early 2022, after deciding to pursue a more mellow and artistic approach to the R&B sound of their previous group; The Sunday Special. Within the first year that jAndr has been together, they’ve already made a name for themselves in the thriving Raleigh-Durham underground R&B/Hip Hop scene. In October 2022, jAndr released their debut single, "More Than Friends" an uber-funky ode to budding romance featuring the incredible voice of Shavona Antoinette and a verse by YessatheFloet, both frequent collaborators with the band. They've performed at some of the hottest and most eclectic festivals in NC including Shakori Hills and We the Roses while also collaborating with such notable artists as Aarik Duncan of NiiTO, Donnie Deneil from Duck, and internationally known MC Tanajah.
Swansgate
Visiting from the Queen City, Swansgate have roots in the triangle that go back to college days for guitarist Michael McKinney, and continue throughout the tenure of the band’s career. While their genre is classified as Alternative/Indie, Swansgate can be hard to define. With influences ranging from space rock and indie, to hip hop and shibuya-kei, their sound can be described as beachy, progressive, and psychedelic. They are fresh off of the release of their debut album, “Becoming Someone”, and have been steadily gaining momentum by playing frequent shows and festivals throughout the greater NC region.
