Join us in celebrating the life and legacy of Judy Adams, a shining light in the Detroit community whose musical brilliance, infectious smile and boundless spirit left an indelible mark. The family of Judy Adams, WDET, the historic Garden Theater and Marx Layne Public Relations will present this special event, which is open to all — friends, family, colleagues and members of the Detroit community who were touched by Judy’s warm on-air presence. We’ll reflect on her remarkable life, share memories and enjoy the music that defined her journey. Throughout her career, Judy wore many hats — musician, composer, music show host, educator and local personality — always sharing her love for music with those around her.⭐️ Ismael Ahmed, host of WDET’s This Island Earth, will be DJing the event with music inspired by Judy Adams eclectic radio shows
⭐️ Sean Blackman and Friends will perform music honoring Judy’s love of global music and rhythms
⭐️ Artist Jon Strand will share animation he created which includes original music composed and performed by Judy Adams
During the event, WDET will announce the Judy Adams Music Internship, a tribute to Judy’s memory and lasting legacy at WDET Detroit Public Radio. Through her curation of music and storytelling, Judy gifted listeners with knowledge, joy and deep musical connection. The internship will foster the education and career development of students with a passion for music, education, community service and radio.
The evening will feature light bites and a cash bar. Parking is available in nearby public structures.
