About this Event

“The 5 stars is really for the (participant) experience: they were introduced to familiar and unfamiliar concepts (and) were able to ask a range of questions and apply their knowledge to a case.” – Previous participant

Enter our courtroom. Decide the sentence. Judge for yourself.

Step into the shoes of a Childrens Court magistrate with the Queensland Sentencing Council’s free, interactive workshop based on a real-life case.

Judge for Yourself shows participants there is more to a sentence than just the headlines.

Council member and Jeffery Cuddihy & Joyce Solicitors director Chris Anderson will provide valuable insight into the criminal justice system and the complex task of sentencing those who break the law.

We delve into what happened, the surrounding circumstances, and the factors a magistrate must consider when determining a sentence.

Then it’s up to you.

This session is open to all, regardless of your experience with the justice system.

Following the session, participants have the option of taking part in a tour of the QEII Courts of Law.
