American Singer Songsters/Mountain Music
JP Harris
Around Nashville, JP Harris is known as one of the best no- bullshit old-school country singers. But anywhere else he’s known as Squash (a childhood family nickname that never wore off), a quasi-mythical bearded figure known for rolling through underground picking circles, fiddler competitions, and stringband contests with his powerful banjo playing on handmade instruments.
With Don’t You Marry No Railroad Man, his debut recording of traditional music under the moniker JP Harris, his alter ego is coming out of the shadows to celebrate this arcane and truly American musical repertoire.JP Harris isn’t mining his roots as a marketing pitch, he has the chops to back it up.
John R Miller
John R. Miller began playing and writing music while growing up in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia, an area along the Potomac River where the mountains meet Interstate 81, and has since performed his songs across the US, Canada,Japan, and Europe. He has made several appearances on NPR’s Mountain Stage, has been a featured songwriter and performer on the Travelin’ Appalachians Revue, and his song “Coming Down” was recorded by major league Kentucky songwriter/artist Tyler Childers on his last album
