Join us for an unforgettable evening as João Bosco and Jaques Morelenbaum, two of Brazil's most celebrated artists, unite for a unique duo concert. In Brazil, João Bosco is a national hero. For over 40 years, this singer and guitarist has captivated audiences with his catchy melodies and clever rhythms. «João sounds like an orchestra,» says jazz guitarist Lee Ritenour about the maestro of Música Popular Brasileira (Brazilian popular music), who blends rock, jazz, and Afro-Brazilian influences in his music. In the 1970s and 1980s, Bosco, along with legends like Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, was one of the young, politically active musicians in Brazil who consistently defied the military dictatorship's censorship with their encrypted songs.
Jaques Morelenbaum from Rio de Janeiro, is a master cellist, arranger, conductor, and composer. Coming from a musical family, Morelenbaum has carved out a remarkable career, collaborating with iconic Brazilian artists like Antonio Carlos Jobim, Caetano Veloso, and Gilberto Gil. His international collaborations with Ryuichi Sakamoto, David Byrne, and Sting have brought Brazilian music to the global stage. Known for his lush, intricate arrangements that blend classical and popular elements, Morelenbaum's music transcends genres.
