About this Event
This gathering invites you to slow down, tune in, and expand your capacity to show up fully—in your body, in your voice, and in community. Through somatic movement, presence practices, and expression-based exercises, we will explore how we relate to ourselves, one another, space, time, and the collective.
This is not a performance. It is a container.
- A container for curiosity.
- A container for connection.
- A container for remembering your inner navigation system.
Come with a willingness to explore. Leave with a deeper sense of grounding, imagination, and collective possibility.
What We’ll Experience
Throughout our time together, we will move between individual reflection and collective activation. Activities include:
- Visualization
- A call and response ‘cypher’ around the theme of Joy as Resistance
- Solo and paired presence exercises (somatic warm up, gazing, spatial exploration, etc)
- Poetic divination practice using poetry books from Black writers
- Sound Bath
- Journaling
- Reflection & Sharing
- Unstructured time for connection before and after the session
Optional sharing and group dialogue
Unstructured connection time before and after the session
No prior movement or creative experience is necessary. You are welcome exactly as you are.
What to Bring
Participants are encouraged to bring:
- A notebook and pen
- A poetry book by a Black writer (if you have one)
- Writing and drawing materials will also be available.
Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.
Space & Accessibility
The session will be held in the ECC Great Room, a large, open space designed to comfortably accommodate a large crowd. To maintain the communal nature of this event, we will cap participation around 40 participants.
Activities will include gentle movement and seated reflection, with options to adapt to your comfort level. If you’re longing for intentional community, embodied presence, and creative renewal, this gathering is for you.

At Alpha Legal Foundation, we believe equity in the law begins with equity in opportunity.
The legal system cannot fully deliver justice if the people within it do not reflect the communities they serve.
In Maine and across the nation, aspiring legal professionals — particularly Black, Indigenous, and people of color — face persistent barriers to entering and advancing within the legal field.
Alpha Legal Foundation exists to change that.
We envision and work towards a legal profession that is equitable, representative, and deeply connected to community. We believe the justice system is strengthened by leaders who come from — and stand with — diverse lived experiences.
When you support our work, you are not simply supporting a nonprofit initiative.
You are a collaborator and co-laborer in building the future of justice.
If you have the financial capacity to invest in our work, you can or by choosing an add-on donation amount during checkout.
