UPDATE JAN 10We regret to announce that due to the postponement of the Destination Chaos festival in the Dominican Republic, UK artists Shame have cancelled their trip to North America, and our festivals. Winterruption YEG/ Big Winter Classic are thrilled to announce California rock n roll punks Joyce Manor as replacement on Friday Jan 27 in Edmonton and Saturday Jan 28 in Calgary.All Shame tickets will be honoured for this event. The winter festival takes place in multiple downtown stages indoors and out, including The Starlite Room, Rocky Mountain Icehouse, The Station On Jasper, Soho Yeg, 9910, Evolution Wonderlounge, Downtown Edmonton Community League, ICE District Plaza, Temple & The Cask & Barrel.Started in 2019 in conjunction with Winterruption festivals in Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, and Calgarys Big Winter Classic, Winterruption YEG works closely with the local business and the arts community of Edmonton. The mission of the festival is to provide an inclusive, diverse and representative showcase of music, drag and comedy in a winter setting in downtown Edmonton. Highlights of this years festival include the UKs Shame, Torontos Fucked Up, RuPaul Drag Race star Kornbread The Snack Jete, Parquet Courts A. Savage, Holy Fuck, Tempers, Wax, Hannah Georgas, Mauvey, Hawksley Workman, Comedy from Nick Thune, Natasha Lyn Myles and Girl Brain, Polaris winner Pierre Kwenders, Queer Vegan Punk Band From The Faroe Islands Joe s Sgt. Papers, Jasmyn, Mattmac, Fartbarf, The Cups N Cakes Episode 200 Recording featuring The Garrys, Zoon, Status/ Non Status, Stripmall, Wolf Willow, Sean Davis Newton & Motherhood, Local wrestling from Love Wrestling, up & coming and establihsed locals Verttigo, Munashe, Home Front, Jesse Jams & the Flams, Raygun Cowboys, Pepper, Brasstactics, Velocitractor, Stretcher Hymen, Ladonna Stone, Colleen Brown and much much more.
