About this Event
Overview
In this weekend meditation workshop with Tergar Facilitators Anya Adair and Robin Harris, we will learn how meditating on loving-kindness and compassion can open our hearts to the world around us and relax the self-centered tendencies that lead to anxiety, dissatisfaction, and suffering.
Cultivating loving-kindness and compassion helps us to see the basic goodness that all beings share. By relating to others in an open-hearted way, we bring peace to the mind and develop a sense of confidence and purpose. This, in turn, naturally brings harmony to our relationships and enables us to work with challenging situations more effectively.
The schedule for this weekend workshop includes video teachings by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, short presentations on the key points of meditation practice, as well as guided meditations and discussion.
Who can attend this workshop?
This workshop is open to meditators who have previously attended a Calming the Mind: Joy of Living 1 meditation workshop/retreat or a Joy of Living 1 program online, and meet the practice requirements. If you come from another tradition and feel you may meet the pre-requisite meditation study and practice requirements in other ways, please contact us.

About the Facilitators:
Anya Adair grew up at Kagyu Samye Ling Monastery and Tibetan Centre, which was founded in Scotland in 1967 by Akong Rinpoche. She was fortunate to meet many great meditation masters. She met Mingyur Rinpoche while visiting Palpung Sherab Ling in India in 2000 and became his student in 2003 when he began teaching Mahamudra in the United Kingdom. In 2017 she co-founded the Tergar Edinburgh practice group.
Robin Harris also grew up at Samye Ling, and helped to establish the Tergar Edinburgh Practice Group along with Anya. He first met Mingyur Rinpoche in India in 2001 and has been practicing under his guidance since 2007. He works for Tergar International as an Event Coordinator and has a background in teaching meditation to children and young people.
