About this Event
Grief is not limited to the loss of a loved one. Sometimes we grieve broken relationships, lost opportunities, unexpected transitions, health challenges, disappointments, trauma, or the silent weight of trying to hold everything together while telling everyone we’re “fine.”
As believers, we know the power of prayer, faith, worship, and trusting God. But we also want to break the stigma that says Christians should suffer silently or that needing professional help means you lack faith. Sometimes healing looks like prayer and therapy. Scripture and support. Jesus and healthy conversations with people equipped to help us heal. God often works through people, resources, wisdom, and community just as much as He works through the sanctuary.
Join the Missionaries and Creative Committee of New Haven Missionary Baptist Church for Joy Comes in the Mourning: Navigating Grief Luncheon, a safe and honest space for healing, encouragement, and real conversation surrounding grief, emotional wellness, and restoration.
We are honored to welcome Certified Grief Coach Rev. Dr. Rae Karim of Good Grief Now! as our guest speaker as she shares practical insight and tools for navigating grief in its many forms. Together, we’ll discuss what it means to care for ourselves spiritually, emotionally, and mentally while giving ourselves permission to heal without guilt or shame.
If you’ve been carrying grief quietly, battling emotional exhaustion, or struggling to process life while still showing up for everyone else, this space is for you. We believe God is still able to heal, restore, strengthen, and comfort, and sometimes part of that healing journey includes asking for help.
