A Neighborhood Hang Designed for Discovery
After a seven year hiatus, Alamo Music's Guitar Wars is back on October 23rd from 6-10pm at Legacy Park. That’s not all, get your passport and discover everything that makes Downtown West so unique! Our neighbors will be offering $5 deals, live music, and exciting door prizes for adventurers who get 3 or more stamps at participating businesses.
Free parking will be available at Frost Tower and Alamo Music Center for attendees. No need to worry about driving around, our district volunteers will be posted at strategic points to help guide your way, and complimentary transportation will be available to give your feet a break!
Interested in competing?
Musicians will compete for recognition and local fame, in three categories: electric, acoustic, and bass guitar performances of no more than two minutes. No backtracks allowed, just you and your guitar!
A panel of celebrity judges will rate the performers on a scale of 1 to 5 in the following categories:
Technique: Execution and precision. Simple, how well you play and how well you command your instrument.
Sound: The overall impression your performance leaves. Show off the unique tone of your guitar!
Musicianship: It’s not just about strumming chords. Show your feelings, your phrasing, your expression. Let your artistry as a guitarist speak.
Prizes for the top three winners in each category include instruments from sponsors: Taylor Guitars, Fender, Martin, Yamaha Guitar Group, D’addario, and more!
