Journey of Hope Mural Dedication

Camino in English means "journey, path, road, way". Each day, Camino Community Development Corporation provides hope and healing to those in our community. Through programs and services such as our Healthcare Center, Wellness and Nutritional Program, Thrift Store, Food Pantry, Behavioral Health, Upward Mobility, Educational Training, Research and Development, and a social and spiritual community - we offer resources to meet every aspect of each human need. Even more specifically, all of our services are offered in both English and Spanish to target our multi-cultural community where we live.

In the last few years, the area of Charlotte surrounding Camino's campus has exploded with growth! Apartments, businesses, shopping, Top Golf, and other major development has been happening within walking distance. And the incredible new light rail is right at our back door! And we have nearly 10,000 square feet of blank wall space that backs up to all of it. We realized that this was the perfect opportunity to create a visible masterpiece that would be an inspiration to all who can see it! Over the last few months, mural artist Randall Kane has been carefully brushing colors onto this wall and making the vision come to life! Phase one is complete, but Phases 2 and 3 are being developed as well!

The title Journey of Hope comes from this idea. Our city is made up of incredibly diverse, multi-cultural people who make Charlotte what it is today. Many of the stories that we have personally encountered are those who have come from various countries, have overcome many obstacles, and have worked extremely hard to make a better life for their families. Camino has had the honor of walking with them on their Journey of Hope. The purpose of this mural is to inspire others along their journey and let them know that Camino is a friend that will support and celebrate them each step of the way. We also hope to celebrate those individuals and businesses within our community who have been successful on their respective Journeys.

On November 11th at 11:00, we would like to invite you to dedicate this Journey of Hope Mural to our community. There will be exclusive signed prints available to commemorate this dedication as well as sponsorship opportunities for individuals and corporations. Meet the artist, Randall Kane, as well as iconic government representatives from various countries around the world.

This event is open to the public, so please feel free to bring others who would like to be inspired. We ask that you park in the parking deck located at University Station Blvd. and walk to the designated mural area. We will have a tent set up so you can't miss it. There will be light refreshments, music, and photo opportunities at 11:00 prior to the dedicatory speeches. We will also be providing Camino campus tours following the event. We hope to see you there!
