ABOUT JOSH T. PEARSON
Josh T. Pearson is a musician from Texas. He is known for his work with the band Lift To Experience and his subsequent solo career.
Pearson formed the short-lived, but critically acclaimed band Lift To Experience in 1996. They released one double album, The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads on UK based label Bella Union in 2001, before splitting up soon after. So beloved by DJ John Peel were they that he had them record three sessions in five months and were included in the Best 125 Peel Sessions of all time.
After Lift To Experience disintegrated, Pearson spent many years in the wilderness, only releasing one studio recording, I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry, a split 7” single with the Australian band Dirty Three and appearing on the Mercury Prize nominated Bat for Lashes album Fur and Gold (2006).
An unparalleled live performer, Pearson has toured with Dirty Three, Archie Bronson Outfit, 65daysofstatic and notably performed at the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival several times including those curated by Dirty Three (2007) and My Bloody Valentine (2009).
Pearson has released his debut solo album Last of the Country Gentlemen on Mute Records in 2011. He spent most of 2011-12 promoting the album and touring extensively in its support, playing many solo shows including SXSW in Austin and sold out nights at Union Chapel, Islington and Barbican Centre in London, festivals including Primavera Sound Festival, Latitude Festival, Green Man Festival and End of the Road Festival, while also sharing stage with likes of Fleet Foxes and Joanna Newsom. Pearson made his TV debut on the BBC show Later with Jools Holland in April 2011.
Last of the Country Gentlemen was named Rough Trade (shops) “Album of the Year 2011” and nominated in two categories, “Best Album” and “Breakthrough Act”, at MOJO Awards 2011 and shortlisted for Uncut Music Award 2011. Uncut placed the album at number 5, while Mojo ranked it number 7, Rolling Stone number 33 and Q number 42 in their “Top 50 Albums of 2011”. In December 2013 Uncut included Last of the Country Gentlemen in their pick of the top 50 Greatest Singer/ Songwriter Albums of all time.
In October 2011, Pearson took part in “A Room for London – Sounds from a Room” art project, in which leading artists of all disciplines used a one-bedroom Joseph Conrad’s book Heart of Darkness-influenced architectural installation in the form of a riverboat perched on a rooftop of Queen Elizabeth Hall at Southbank Centre in London as a workspace. During his 2-day residency, Pearson recorded 10 gospel songs followed by a live webcast.
Pearson has released his second solo album The Straight Hits! on Mute Records in 2018.
Pearson played and appeared in the 2002 French experimental film by Philippe Grandrieux entitled La vie nouvelle. His song “Country Dumb” appears in the 2012 Martin McDonagh directed motion picture Seven Psychopaths and “Woman, When I’ve Raised Hell” in the 2013 Ridley Scott‘s thriller film written by Cormac McCarthy, The Counselor.
Mark Lanegan called Pearson “a one of a kind artist”, while Guy Garvey of Elbow called him “the greatest male vocalist of our time”.
ABOUT LESLIE SISSON
Leslie Sisson is the songwriter and front gal for Moving Panoramas from Austin, TX. Over the decades, she’s built up quite a repertoire of side player projects and guest appearances too long to list. 2021 marks the 10-year anniversary of her attempt at releasing a solo record that was cut short from seeing much traction due to some life-changing events that one might mistake as a Lifetime movie script. She wrote about it in some publications (feel free to Google stalk) and also wrote a buncha songs that became the dreamy force behind Moving Panoramas, topping some radio charts and touring some cool spots with some cool folks.

After the past year-plus-ish of going through what we all went through together, yet alone in our own isolated bubble forms, Leslie, as many musicians during this time, wrote a bunch more tunes. This time, however, things are a little different; still a little dreamy and boot gazey, yet a little more intimate and slow dancey. This round of music has taken form as another sidetrack attempt to compliment whatever wall of gaze the Panoramas release next. Til then, Leslie’s got some alone time tunes to share that we all might be able to relate to, hot off the emotional press, along with fellow Panoramas Phil McJunkins on the swimmy pedal steel and Jody Suarez on the brushy drums.

While these new tunes are brand new and in the works to release in the near future, in the meantime, feel free to check out the ghost of Leslie music past from the last decade at lesliesisson.com and come see this new music take form live on the ground floor. Yes, some swingy, stripped-down Panoramas shall be sprinkled in too. Les is more to come.
