Josh Couts Quintet

Combining elements of classic hard bop with modern jazz as well as Brazilian choro, Josh Couts’ latest quintet album The General Dance, offers a tapestry of different feels and moods. Josh is joined by some of the most creative and supportive improvising musicians in the region: two staples of the Birmingham jazz scene, saxophonist Gary Wheat and pianist Choko Aiken as well as Huntsville greats, drummer CJ Brown and UAH bass instructor Nick Walker.

On Friday, February 20, 2026 at 7:30pm in UAH Roberts Hall the quintet will perform selections from The General Dance and Josh’s other albums. Join us for an exciting evening of original compositions and improvisation!
