Jonn Del Toro Richardson: Unplugged
About this Event
Thursday, August 6
First Show: 6:30 PM | Doors @ 5:15 PM
Admission: $15
Jonn Del Toro Richardson learned the blues the hard way, on the bandstand. He grew up in a Houston family steeped in Mexican mariachi tradition and did not pick up a guitar until his early twenties, but once the blues found him there was no turning back. His break came alongside vocalist Diunna Greenleaf in her band Blue Mercy, which took top honors at the 2005 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. That same week, Richardson walked away with the Albert King Award as the most promising guitarist of the whole competition.
He turned that promise into a career. His debut solo album Tengo Blues, produced by the legendary Anson Funderburgh, climbed the national blues charts and earned Richardson the 2017 Blues Music Award for Best Emerging Artist Album. Tonight he sets the full band aside for Unplugged, a stripped down solo show where every bent note and whispered aside lands close enough to touch. This is Texas blues at its most intimate.
