P&T Knitwear is pleased to welcome Jonathan Ezra Goldman to celebrate and discuss his new book ; a panoramic view of New York City in the 1920s, uncovering hidden histories from within entertainment, politics, arts, technology, and the law.
Jonathan will be joined in conversation by Esther Crain, author of . Along with a discussion and audience Q&A, Jonathan will also sign copies of his book.
Doors open at 6:30pm with the talk starting closer to 7pm. Come early and grab a drink from the !

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jonathan Ezra Goldman is a professor in the Humanities Department at New York Institute of Technology, and teaches courses about literature and culture (US, Latinx, British and Irish). While his new book looks closely at 1920s New York City, he has mostly addressed literature and its relationship to mass, technological society during "the long 20th Century" (roughly 1850 to the present). Sub-specialties include modernism, literature/law studies, New York City cultural history, James Joyce, the history of the novel, visual culture, celebrity, popular music, and comics. His previous books include Modernism Is the Literature of Celebrity and Joyce and the Law. In 2021, he was honored to become President of the (founded in 1947). Jonathan lives in New York City.
ABOUT THE MODERATOR
Esther Crain is an author, historian, and native New Yorker. In 2008 she launched the website Ephemeral New York, where she writes and publishes stories every week that explores the city’s past. Her second book, The Gilded Age in New York, 1870-1910, has made Esther a popular source for information on Gotham during the Gilded Age. Esther speaks regularly on topics relating to New York City history, and she conducts historical walking tours of Riverside Drive, Ladies Mile, the Bowery, Gilded Age Fifth Avenue, and many more of New York’s hidden pockets and little-known corners.
