Jon Lehrer Dance Company (JLDC) returns to the Strand Center for the Arts for a third time, bringing their trademark edge-of-your seat performance to Plattsburgh! Through a dynamic blend of athleticism, artistry, and entertainment, JLDC’s performance is perfect for audiences of all ages and backgrounds, whether you are dance aficionado or a novice to the art form.
This year’s performance is the culmination of a 3-week residency in Plattsburgh, made possible by the generous support of New York State Council of the Arts (NYSCA). Filled with breathtaking physical excitement, the performance will feature a world premiere set to the iconic music of David Byrne. This joyous and life-affirming work will feature local dancers and Plattsburgh community members alongside the dancers of JLDC - showing how dance is truly a common ground art form with the power to bring people together!
The evening will also feature JLDC repertory that spans the 19-year history of the internationally renowned company, carefully curated to bring audiences on a journey they will not soon forget. As Schwarzwälder Bote/Neckarquelle in Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany proclaimed after their tour to Germany in March, “Artful choreography, breathtaking virtuosity, and blazing passion could be admired at the Theater Am Ring in Villingen. The company’s overwhelming performance was deservedly rewarded with standing ovations as the joyful atmosphere lingered in the theater long afterward.”
