Join acclaimed pianist and composer Jon Cowherd for an exclusive masterclass exploring the deep connection between composition and improvisation in jazz. Through live demonstrations and insightful discussion, Jon will reveal how spontaneous creativity and structured composition inform one another, shaping the essence of jazz storytelling. From his longtime collaborations with jazz icons Brian Blade, John Patitucci, & Bill Frisell to playing on records by Liz Wright, Iggy Pop, Rosanne Cash, and more, Jon is a wealth of musical knowledge.
This one-hour presentation will offer a behind-the-scenes look at Jon’s creative process, including how melodies, harmonies, and motifs evolve from improvisation into fully realized compositions.
