About this Event
This years event theme is #ItStartsWithMen.
Violence against women and girls is rooted in harmful masculine norms. Starting with men, we need to address the attitudes and behaviours that contribute to a fear of violence for women in their day-to-day lives.
This years White Ribbon event, we’re encouraging men to hold themselves accountable to women, and to each other, so we can affect positive behaviour change to transform harmful cultures. Gender equality is key to making this culture change happen.
Book now and reserve your place on the 2024 White Ribbon Conference. The conference will raise awareness and increase your knowledge and confidence around tackling gender-based violence and provide you with resources to not only raise awareness of this campaign but to take action too.
This year’s event has a rich mixture of keynote speakers and subjects, with a particular emphasis on local provision, how to challenge harmful behaviour and how to keep safe in the online space. This further embraces the ethos of “It Starts with Men”.
We will hear from Cranstoun about their work with perpetrators and their Male Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) – This project focuses on men who are perpetrators of Domestic Abuse, in order to encourage more engagement with recovery programmes, challenge their beliefs, with the aim to change the individual’s behaviour.
The SafeLives Research and Evaluation team will present on the current findings from The Verge of Harm[ing] research. The research aimed to address the evidence gap around young people's use of harmful behaviours in their relationships.
Right Path will be focusing on their work around male misogyny. Martin Lakeman will be sharing information around Cut it Out training, Claires Law and VEV (Visual Evidence for Victims). WMRASAC (West Mercia Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre) will be delivering an active bystander session. We will also hear about the harm that is caused in the online space and what we can do to ensure we are safe.
This year’s White Ribbon UK theme is #ItStartsWithMen. This starts with challenging harmful attitudes and behaviours that perpetuate violence. And the conference will encourage all of us to make that difference.
