Join us for "A Celebration of Life" at the New College Uplands Preserve

The destruction of century-old palms and slash pines along the Uplands Preserve, abutting Sarasota Bay is a poignant Boss for the community.These trees not only enhanced the natural beauty af the area but also played numerous roles in the lives Of local residents, the New College community and the wildlife living on the Preserve.

The Uplands Preserve has been a peaceful spot where people walked their dogs and watched sunsets.fostering d sense of community and providing a space for relaxation and connection with nature. College students used the space as outdoor classroom and laboratory, enriching their education through direct interaction with the environment.

The trees provided much-needed shade, helping to cool the area and offer respite from intense Florida sun. The trees acted as a natural barrier, providing protection against storms and reducing the impact or strong wind' and heavy rains.
