The RiverWatch Institute of Alberta invites you to experience our extraordinary summer Eco Float tours.

Who are we? We've been delivering award-winning guided river experiences since 1995. Our summer Eco Float programs support our ongoing science, education and adventure mission on Alberta's Waterways. RiverWatch is pleased to welcome back EPCOR as our 2022/23 sponsor of RiverWatch Eco-Floats.

WHAT TO EXPECT

You'll be joining Edmonton's Official River Guides as they take you on a safe, fun, and personalized raft experience down the North Saskatchewan River right through the heart of Edmonton. Our 4 hr "9 Bridge Eco-Float" takes groups on a 12.5km tour that passes under nine city bridges from Laurier Park Boat launch in Edmonton's west end to Dawson Park, just east of downtown. Your journey will take you through our beautiful river valley, past historical landmarks and our incredible downtown skyline. Guides may even stop for a shore lunch under the new Walterdale Bridge, depending on river conditions and weather.

YOUR RIVERWATCH GUIDES

All our river guides complete an intense week of training involving rafting, emergency response, health and safety, bus driving, equipment maintenance, water quality monitoring, and local/natural history interpretation. The result is an experienced group of certified and professional river guides ready to provide a safe, engaging and fully immersive rafting experience.

Your RiverWatch raft guide will help participants gain new insights and appreciation for our rivers' history, culture, bio-diversity and stewardship. Everyone will finish the day more connected to nature and our North Saskatchewan River.

The RiverWatch Institute of Alberta is a registered charity founded in 1995. We are a science and education non-profit group that delivers award-winning guided river experiences, environmental awareness, citizen science, and science education programs for students on and along Alberta’s rivers and creeks. Through raft float trips, portable water quality labs, stewardship activities and other opportunities, Albertans of all walks of life learn the ecology and importance of Alberta waterways to better understand, enjoy and care for a sustainable environment.
