"Echoes of Haiti in Jazz" is a musical journey where the rich rhythms, melodies, and spirit of Haiti meet the language of Jazz. This night is about honoring our roots while celebrating the freedom and creativity of jazz music.
Johnbern Thomas, on drums, will be leading this band through a night of rhythm, storytelling, and connection-where Haiti and Jazz speak with one voice. Jazz is a music that breaks boundaries and brings people together. This night will be especially meaningful, as he will also be performing music from his newest album, inspired by his journey, roots, and the spirit of home.
Throughout the show, traditional and contemporary Haitian music infused with jazz harmony, improvisation, and swing will be featured. Jazz standards will be re-interpreted through the lens of Haitian rhythms and grooves-blending kompa, rara, voodoo rhythms, and Caribbean pulse with the soul of jazz. It is not just fusion-it is conversation between cultures.
This concert will also be a tribute to Haiti's deep contribution to the world of jazz and to the incredible generation of Haitian musicians shaping today's sound. Haiti has always been a land of rhythm, innovation, and musical brilliance, and that night will celebrate that legacy.
