On Friday 23rd January 2026, John Williamson will take to the big stage at TRECC for what may be his final performance in Tamworth — a heartfelt ‘Thank You, Tamworth’. With appearances at nearly every Tamworth Country Music Festival bar one, few artists have graced its stages more than John.
John Williamson remains one of Australia’s most cherished storytellers, and his latest album How Many Songs — his fifty third — is a testament to that legacy. Blending humour, romance and travel, the album features tracks like ‘If Wanna Be An Aussie’, ‘Beautiful Words (Come From You)’ and ‘Come Back To Me Country’ — all road-tested favourites with his live audiences. Songs such as ‘Losin’ My Mojo’ and ‘Don’t Let The Old Man In, Mate’ reflect John’s trademark wit and self-awareness, offering a light-hearted take on ageing as he approaches his 80th birthday this November.
Since its release, the album has struck a chord with Australians nationwide, once again showcasing John’s unmatched ability to capture the essence of the land, its people, and its spirit in song. Debuting on April 11, 2025, How Many Songs entered the ARIA Top 100 Albums Chart at #51, reached #1 on the ARIA Australian Country Albums Chart, and claimed #3 on both the ARIA Country and ARIA Australian Albums Charts. Complementing the album’s release, 2025 also saw John unveil his fifth children’s picture book Koala Koala, inspired by his beloved song of the same name.
Alongside songs from his How Many Songs album, audiences will be taken on a musical journey across Australia — with John moving effortlessly between larrikin humour and heartfelt reflection.
From classics like Cootamundra Wattle, Old Man Emu, Chandelier of Stars, Rip Rip Woodchip, Galleries of Pink Galah’s, Mallee Boy, and Raining on the Rock, to his iconic anthem True Blue, John’s music touches hearts, stirs memories, and leaves his listeners with a renewed sense of hope and connection to Australia.
