John Thomson is an actor, narrator and a comedian, best known for The Fast Show, which began in 1994, and the ITV drama comedy Cold Feet. The most famous character he regularly played in the thirty year-old BBC sketch show was Louis Balfour, the host of "Jazz Club" well known for his catchphrase, "Nice!" He starred in every episode of ITV's Cold Feet, which was broadcast between 1997 and 2020.
John's many other onscreen appearances included Waterloo Road, Coronation Street, which saw him in sixty-one episodes, the musical drama Blackpool, also starring David Tennant and David Morrissey, 24 Hour Party People, Playing the Field and Men Behaving Badly. He is also known for providing voices for a wide range of shows, such as thirty-five Spitting Image episodes, which included him portraying Michael Portillo and Rupert Murdoch, among others. John has worked on TV shows with Steve Coogan, from The Day Today to Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge and appeared in some of Coogan's live shows as compere and comedian Bernard Righton. They both won the Perrier Award in 1992, after performing together in the Edinburgh Fringe. He is the narrator of the Channel 5 series Police Interceptors.
