The Writers Guild at Bloomington presents a new book launch reading: Fussing A Bit: Poems of My Lives by John Sherman.JOHN SHERMAN is an Indiana-based writer and photographer. Fussing A Bit: Poems of My Lives (Mesa Verde Press, 2026) will be his 10th book, forthcoming thanks to support from the Indiana Arts Commission. This 142-page, limited-edition poetry collection is a reflection on his varied experiences.
Sherman grew up on an Indiana farm; graduated from the IU Jacobs School of Music; and worked in Nigeria, Ghana, Malawi, and Zaire. He is the author of nine books, including War Stories: A Memoir of Nigeria and Biafra, and Marjorie Main: Rural Documentary Poetry, a finalist for the Academy of American Poets Walt Whitman Award. He is also a four-time recipient of Individual Artist Program grants from the Indiana Arts Commission.
