Blues legend John Primer comes to the Jack London Revue for an unforgettable night of authentic Chicago blues.
Born on the M.C. Mansell Plantation in Camden, Mississippi, Primer moved to Chicago in 1963 with a dream of playing alongside Muddy Waters—a dream he would eventually realize. He got his start performing on the city’s famed Maxwell Street before becoming the house rhythm guitarist at Theresa’s Lounge, playing with greats like Junior Wells.
Mentored by blues legends and later touring with Willie Dixon, Primer was soon recruited by Muddy Waters himself, ultimately becoming his bandleader. Following Muddy’s passing, Primer spent over a decade performing with Magic Slim.
With a career spanning decades, John Primer has recorded more than 90 albums, led his own Real Deal Blues Band, and continues to tour worldwide. A Blues Hall of Fame inductee and three-time Grammy nominee, he has earned multiple Blues Music Awards and Lifetime Achievement honors—cementing his place as one of the last true traditional blues masters.
