of the best reviewed shows at the Edinburgh Fringe 2022!
London UK, October **, 2022 - Critically acclaimed Canadian comedian John Hastings brings his highly acclaimed
Edinburgh Fringe Show ‘Do You Have Any Ointment, My John Hastings? on tour across the UK in February of 2023.
The Scotsman described John as “a charismatic storyteller” and The List called him “a skilled improviser as well as a
honed stand-up”. The show which played to near sold out audiences at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe and Melbourne
International Comedy Festival will be appearing in the following cities:

‘Do You Have Any Ointment’ deals with all the challenges life has thrown at him since his last show in 2019. Currently
residing in Los Angeles, John has had a rough couple of years after continually being punched in the balls by life!
He turns a “horrible, no good, very bad year’” into an engaging, hysterical, and fast-paced hour of comedy expertly told
by one of the best self-deprecating Canadian comics in the world.
‘Do You Have Any Ointment, My John Hastings?’ deals with his divorce during Covid, his best friend dying, his near arm
amputation, and even pooing his pants.
John now 37 years young has been through a lot! He's had various diagnoses of mental health and being in the USA
when Trump didn’t get re-elected didn’t help whilst he performed on a live stream for 19 hours the night of the election!
He also is currently living with PTSD and took up skateboarding to deal with it.
He got bed bugs the day before he filmed a stand-up special for Mormons and was accused of fraud by the state of
California because a state official misread a form. No wonder he started smoking W**d every day to cope with these
stresses.
His show covers his almost dying in a bicycle accident and nearly losing his left arm; his emergency surgery on his
shoulder with the elbow having been diagnosed with bone death, which could have resulted in his arm dying. He now
has wires holding both elbows and his left elbow has 6 screws in it, and this is the second time! He managed to break
both elbows 3 years apart.
And just when John didn’t think things could get worse, on the flight to his best friend’s funeral BA dumped his meal on
him, and moved him to a middle seat where, because of his injuries, he sat covered in curry for 6 hours. At the funeral,
he did an improvised eulogy. As proof that no good deed goes unpunished, during the funeral, all his bank accounts
were frozen.
John has an 18-year-old brother, and when he hangs out with that generation there seems to be so much hope! Talking
to someone who is young is good and makes him practice not showing any reaction when he accidentally says
something so hurtful. He recently asked him if he had any other job besides being a comedian.
John appeared on “America’s Got Talent” the day the COVID lock-down started and got a standing ovation with no
audience! He was heckled and grabbed by NBA legend Dennis Rodman. And you think you have bad luck?
All of this makes for great fodder for John who has left audiences laughing in the US, UK, Australia, Asia, Europe, and
Canada.
When John last played the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, he sold out his run, adding extra shows and has a
stand-up comedy special coming out in America on Drybar.
John also hosts the ‘Wrestler’ podcast and a weekly twitch “IRL” stream called the ‘Untitled Twitch Stream’ .
John has also appeared on Just for Laughs, Comedy Central, BBC 3, and Radio 4
