DESCRIPTION
This activity focuses on the critical role of diet and lifestyle in cancer prevention, as well as medical nutrition therapy, exercise, and artificial nutrition in optimizing outcomes for oncology patients. Key topics include gastrointestinal (GI) complications of cancer and its treatment, such as diarrhea, dysmotility, malignant bowel obstruction (MBO), and challenges with enteral access, as well as the impact of tumor metabolism on nutritional status and physical function. Sessions will also explore how dietary and lifestyle factors influence the gut microbiome, strategies to manage treatment-related GI toxicities, and ethical considerations surrounding nutrition support in end-of-life care.
