terrace cred. presents: two artists stepping out front, showcasing their own material alone - this is no night of nostalgia. John Douglas, from Irvine on Scotland’s west coast, has a rich history, making music with the mighty Trashcan Sinatras for over thirty years. Apart from his role as a songwriter (and guitarist) there, John’s regular job is playing live gigs as an essential part of his partner Eddi Reader’s band.
He’s doing some dates after getting round to releasing his debut solo album. John was invited to guest with Martin McAloon, the two artists having first met in 1990 during their ‘Jordan - The Comeback’ tour with Prefab Sprout. There’s a joyous version of ‘We Let The Stars Go’ on the album, which includes songs old and new, including his reworking of some Trashcan Sinatras numbers - an intimate snapshot of the talent, charisma and depth of this celebrated Scottish indie songsmith; the start of a new chapter in John Douglas' creative life as he simultaneously looks back at a lifetime of musical adventures and accolades and moves forwards.
Opening tonight is John Canning Yates, whose band Ella Guru created some gorgeous music a couple of decades back. Re-emerging with a debut solo album 'The Quiet Portraits' that has emits melodic soundscapes (and I'm already hooked on hints of Pearlfishers / Brian Wilson and a swathe of stuff I adore). We are privileged to attach JCY to tonight's bill.

terrace cred. is mightily pleased that we’ll be bringing these two into Brighton at a fresh little venue, the revamped Annunciation Ballroom that graces the rear of this finest little backstreet church just along the road, right across from The Greys.
