JUSTE Gallery, Heleneborgsgatan 14 i Hornstull
Inspired by the human form, tears of joy, feeling alone in a crowd, taking the metro, old sci-fi book covers, the beauty and sadness of life and death, surrealist movies, the weird role we occupy in the natural order, the dreams I have at night, forms and faces you see in clouds and wooden ceilings, belief and religion, music, colours and art - I paint.
When starting a painting I try to work very intuitively in the beginning, and after an initial burst of creativity, I take a step back and try to understand what story my subconsciousness wants to tell. I then decide how to create this story from what I’ve already made. In some ways it is a very generative approach, and it gives many of my paintings a dream-like feeling.
Through my work as a doctor I’ve seen the human condition in so many different facets, and the joys, sorrows and intense experiences almost force me to express myself through painting. I find humans incredibly interesting, manyfold, beautiful and destructive. Our societies and the ways we live in the world are endlessly inspiring.
I paint to feel alive, to feel connected to humanity and the world, to hopefully inspire others to create and live.
“Without change,
something sleeps inside us
and seldom awakens
The sleeper must awaken”
