Joel Porter is teaming up with Denver Venoit and Jay Gavin for a night of unforgettable music at 2501 Montana Ave.

Joel Porter sits in his studio in Nashville, an heirloom of sorts, where you can still hear the echoing sounds of a decade’s worth of music from the journeyman artists who helped usher him toward his own version of a modern bard’s life. As an artist, composer, producer, and songwriter, Porter’s work embodies the endless landscapes of a youth spent in the plains of North Dakota, shifting borders of a genre often reduced to “alternative folk.” His latest release, A Costly Collection (2023), marks a continued journey with long-time collaborator Eric Hillman of Foreign Fields, following the path laid by the Mountain Twin EP (2017) and the Hiraeth EP (2018).

Jay Gavin writes and sings songs for fans of real county music and is making a name for his catchy hooks, foot-stomping, autobiographical, everyman songs and good timin’ live shows. The Nashville Songwriters Ass. Intl. named Jay Gavin a writer that’s “One to Watch” in June 2023.

Denver Venoit, known in these parts as Ole Man Kidd, lassos lonesome tunes from the heavens that’ll rattle your spurs and splash cold water on your face. Hailing from up north in The Yukon, Denver began touring across North America as a drummer, acquiring an unquenchable taste for travel along the way. He caught the blues the day his best friend died in his arms in a house fire in Montreal, and he has been wearing a cowboy hat and writing Folk, Country, Blues songs ever since.
