We're seeking an energetic, reliable Part-Time Adventure Guide & Shop Manager to join our team at our riverside shop location. With our two full-time contractors swamped, we need someone who can step in during peak hours to keep operations smooth and guests smiling. This role is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts who are strong, physically fit, and ready to handle a mix of customer service, shop management, and guiding duties. This is a part-time position as an Independent Contractor, offering a fun, active lifestyle rather than a path to financial riches. Schedule:

• Sunday: 9 AM - 6 PM
• Monday: 10 AM - 3 PM
• Tuesday: 10 AM - 3 PM
• Wednesday: 10 AM - 3 PM

(Approximately 22-25 hours per week, with potential for additional hours based on demand.)

• Shop Management & Customer Service: Oversee daily shop operations as needed, including handling phone inquiries, making reservations, scheduling customers, and organizing inventory to ensure everything runs efficiently.
• Guest Assistance: Help guests with equipment rentals, provide safety briefings, and assist them in getting on and off the water safely and comfortably.
• Guiding Tours: Lead a variety of tours as a certified Guide—this is a non-optional part of the role! You'll guide paddleboard and kayak excursions, sharing your knowledge of the local waterways while ensuring a safe, enjoyable experience for all participants.
• Maintenance & Cleaning: Keep the shop and equipment spotless through sweeping, trash removal, bathroom upkeep, and general organizing to maintain our high standards.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with our small, dedicated team to deliver excellent customer service, resolve any issues on the spot, and contribute to a positive, supportive atmosphere.
• Physical Tasks: Lift and handle equipment (paddleboards, kayaks, etc.), which can be tiring on high-volume days—strength and stamina are essential!

• Physical Fitness & Skills: Must be a strong paddler with proven experience in paddleboarding and kayaking. Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly and maintain high energy levels throughout shifts, even on busy, demanding days.
• Customer Service Excellence: A genuine passion for providing outstanding service—friendly, patient, and proactive in making guests feel welcome and excited.
• Team Player: Ability to get along well with our team; we value harmony and collaboration in our fun, fast-paced environment.
• Availability: Reliable commitment to the specified part-time schedule.
• Independent Contractor Status: Understand and agree to work as an Independent Contractor, responsible for reporting your own taxes. You'll receive a 1099 form at year-end.
• Hiring Process: Interview directly with the owner. If selected, you'll sign a Qualifications Agreement confirming your understanding of expectations and an Independent Contractor Agreement.
• Other: Must be at least 18 years old, with reliable transportation to our riverside location in Fort Lauderdale. Basic computer skills for reservations and scheduling systems.

• Experience leading snorkel tours and/or electric bike tours in addition to paddle-based activities—this could open up more guiding opportunities and earning potential!
• Prior experience in outdoor recreation, tourism, or retail management.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it.
• Enthusiasm for Fort Lauderdale's local ecosystem and waterways to enhance tour narratives.
