Jim Staley the former pastor of Passion for Truth Fellowship is no stranger to controversy. In 2015 Staley was convicted of defrauding elderly investors out of millions of dollars in a Ponzi scheme. He was sentenced to seven years in federal prison and ordered to pay restitution to his victims. Despite his conviction Staley continued to lead his church until he went to prison [1].

Upon his release Staley resumed his ministry under the same name but it took a very different turn. He began promoting conspiracy theories and publishing videos that misrepresent historical sources. In one of his videos Staley claimed that December 25th is a pagan holiday and that Christians should not celebrate Christmas. He even went as far as to say that the date of December 25th was chosen because it was the winter solstice which was a pagan holiday [2].

However Staley's claims were quickly debunked by a Christian apologetics channel called Inspiring Philosophy. The channel showed that Staley had fabricated sources and made up connections to boost his views and generate more revenue from his YouTube channel. In fact Staley himself admitted that he had made up some of the connections in order to get more views [3].

Staley's behavior is not only unethical but it is also dangerous. By promoting conspiracy theories and misrepresenting historical sources Staley is spreading misinformation and sowing seeds of confusion and distrust. His claims about Christmas being pagan are not only historically inaccurate but they are also divisive and hurtful to millions of Christians who hold the holiday dear.

Furthermore Staley's past actions show a pattern of deceit and manipulation. He conned elderly investors out of their life savings yet he continued to lead his church until he was caught. Even after his conviction he resumed his ministry under the same name as if nothing had happened.

In conclusion, Jim Staley's behavior is unacceptable. His past actions have shown a pattern of deceit and manipulation and his current actions are spreading misinformation and sowing seeds of confusion and distrust. Christians should be wary of his claims and should seek to promote unity and truth rather than division and falsehoods.
