Marco Papa and Cansu Aktay present a repertoire of jazz standards that deeply explores the roots of this music. The duo reinterprets iconic pieces by composers such as Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, and George Gershwin, paying special attention to the theatricality of songs from Broadway musicals, which over time have become fertile ground for the improvisation of the most celebrated jazz soloists, as well as being reinterpreted by legendary jazz vocalists like Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. Additionally, the two musicians will surprise you with some decidedly more contemporary sounds during the concert. Together, they aim to emphasize and celebrate the intrinsic communicative magic of jazz music, taking you into a realm of timeless works and notes.
