Learn how Jewish participation in the Revolution helped shape the American tradition of religious liberty and continues to resonate in military service today.
Though a small percentage of the population, Jewish Americans played important roles in the American Revolution. Military figures like Francis Salvador, Mordecai Sheftall, Solomon Bush and others helped shape the struggle for independence and religious liberty.
Historian Adam Jortner will discuss these individuals and explore how their legacy influenced later generations of Jewish servicemembers. The program will also feature Colonel Frank Cohn, Admiral Paul Becker, and Colonel Rebecca DeForest, decorated veterans reflecting on the continuing importance of religious freedom in American military service.
