Instructor - Laurie Lynn Berezin
Laurie Lynn Berezin studied the traditional craft of jewelry fabrication at Boston’s renowned North Bennet Street School, and is the Jewelry Shop Lead at the non-profit makerspace Artisans Asylum. Laurie is a seasoned educator, teaching jewelry-making classes, workshops, private lessons, and corporate retreats for novice and experienced metalsmiths alike. She also handcrafts original and custom jewelry for her business, Beryllina, using only recycled sterling silver, gold, and platinum, and ethically-mined American gemstones. Laurie creates pieces that showcase the natural beauty of the stones, including crystals that she digs from the earth herself.
Class Description
Continue on your metalsmithing journey with this 2-session Jewelry 201 class, and learn how to set cabochon stones! Prerequisite: Jewelry 101 at Artisans Asylum or equivalent experience is necessary.
Through the creation of your own sterling silver pendant with a bezel-set stone cabochon, you’ll learn the proper techniques for creating bezels and securely setting cabochon stones. You’ll also get additional guided practice of the metalsmithing skills you’ve already learned in Jewelry 101, such as sawing, filing, soldering, and jump-ring making.
Please plan on attending both nights of this class – if you miss one night you will not be able to complete your project!
