Jesus Was A Migrant: Screening and Interfaith Discussion

CAIR Austin, FaithWorks and partner organizations are inviting all Austinites to attend this Austin Equity and Inclusion-sponsored event. Join us for a screening of the Tisby Studio's documentary film Jesus Was a Migrant followed by an interfaith panel discussion, and immigration law resources.  

In accordance with the City of Austin's We All Belong initiative, this event is organized to bring all Austinites from different backgrounds together to foster compassion, love, and belonging. Whether you are an immigrant yourself, or curious about immigrants' experience and immigration law, join us to learn more about keeping our community safe, healthy, and hate-free. 

Background:

Dr. Jemar Tisby travels to the U.S.-Mexico border to examine the theological crisis at the heart of American Christianity — and what it means when a nation that claims to be built on faith turns its back on the most vulnerable. This is a documentary about borders, belief, and what we owe each other. Watch the trailer here. Although the documentary has focused on Christian immigrants and their experience on the U.S.-Mexico border, the panel discussion and open dialogue will shed light on other immigrant communities from all faiths and no faith, their experience, and their shared struggles as humans.
