Rooted in classical music but exploding into an expansive range of styles, this is a programme that journeys from the rhythmic drive of Michael Nyman and the baroque elegance of Corelli to barnstorming folk tunes by the Danish String Quartet and jazz-infused gems from Barbara Thompson. Seasonal favourites like Coventry Carol, Silent Night, Ella Fitzgerald’s The Secret of Christmas, and a spot of wassailing bring warmth and festive charm to the evening.
On paper, a saxophone playing Bach to Bowie and Nyman to Ellington, backed by string quartet, piano, bass and percussion, might sound unexpected. But with her 7-piece band, her treasured soprano and alto saxophones, and her passion for connecting with audiences, Jess crafts a high-octane, enchanting evening that will leave you beaming and ready for the festive season.
