Jesper Busk Sørensen | Masterclass TromboneJesper Busk Sørensen’s first instrument was the euphonium, but he switched to trombone because of its warm, lush sound and his fascination with the trombone’s versatility as one of the orchestra’s most powerful, yet also softest-sounding instruments. Since 2009, Jesper Busk Sørensen has been a trombonist with the Berliner Philharmoniker, and he has toured much of the world—both as an orchestral musician, soloist, and guest lecturer at various conservatories. He graduated in 2005 from the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, after which he pursued a soloist class at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, under Michael Mulcahy. Before joining the Berliner Philharmoniker, he spent seven years with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra. Together with his brass colleagues from the Berliner Philharmoniker, he plays in the Berlin Philharmonic Brass Ensemble, the orchestra’s oldest chamber ensemble, which tours actively in Europe, the United States, and Asia. In addition, he is a member of the Danish Trombone Quartet. Since 2015, Jesper Busk Sørensen has been Associate Professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Music.
This Masterclass is co-organised by our Trombone professor, Tommy Verschoore.
