He’s been inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame but is still rather obscure to a lot of people. He plays well over 150 shows a year in the usual places. Across America. Sometimes in Europe, Mexico, and Central America. Then there’s these other places he plays—Lebanon, Israel, Kurdish Iraq, India, and Afghanistan. All over the Middle East, often in war zones and refugee camps.
A triple threat—someone who works at the highest levels as a songwriter, singer, and player. Jason Isbell, who kinda personifies such, recently tweeted about triple threats and listed Jerry Joseph (along with Richard Thompson and St. Vincent) among the greatest examples of that phenomenon.
Jerry Joseph & the Jackmormons released Weird Blood on Cavity Search Records with his band, Steve Drizos on drums and Steven James Wright on bass, and was produced by Dave Schools (J Mascis and the Fog, Hard Working Americans, Stockholm Syndrome).
Glitterfox is the indie Americana project of married songwriters Solange Igoa and Andrea Walker with their best friend, Eric Stalker, on bass and more recent addition of Blaine Heinonen on drums. Hailed by the Willamette Week as one of Portland’s “Best New Bands,” Glitterfox has been called “one of the most successful Portland bands of the pandemic era. By blending Americana and rock into an indie-folk cocktail, they have created a singular sound that can both rouse and soothe, as fans of their ferociously emotional EP Night can attest.”
